Andy Steves' Weekend Student Adventures

Experts in Exciting, Culturally-Aware Budget Travel

WSA provides budget travel packages for any day of the year and any style of travel. Started by Andy Steves, the son of travel guru, Rick Steves, WSA Europe has outgrown it's name and now offers packages of 3-10 days in length, travel consulting, and custom school trips.

The Genesis

Andy Steves designed Weekend Student Adventures in his college dorm room at Notre Dame after studying abroad in Rome during the Spring of '08. Growing up traveling with his father, Rick Steves, Andy knew how to get around and enjoyed helping his friends with their traveling plans during his time abroad. With the abundance of need witnessed in Europe, and a unique background in European travel, Andy saw an opportunity to create fun, no-nonsense, affordable, and memorable weekend trips. WSA was launched in 2010 after Andy graduated from Notre Dame, and today has grown to an award-winning team of amazing local guides and a community of over 10,000 travelers!

Getting Started

In 2009 and 2010 Andy Steves competed in Notre Dame's business plan competition and came away in 1st place, with a $17,000 cash prize, dumped straight into this website and getting WSA Europe off the ground. The first WSA trips ran in London, Prague, Rome and Paris in the Fall of 2010. Since then, he's developed 20+ itineraries for cities and multi-city trips across Europe.

WSA's Mission

WSA's Mission Statement: To foster fun, respectful, in-depth and unforgettable travel experiences for budget travelers, backpackers and students. We empower travelers to become immersed in the cities they visit by experiencing cultures as a local, rather than merely observing them.

Andy Steves' Pitches ABC's Shark Tank 2014

Father's day 2014 Andy had the chance to pitch ABC's Shark Tank. While he didn't get a deal, it was an amazing experience to have an entrepreneurial chat with Mark Cuban, Barbora Corcoran, Robert Herjavec and Kevin O'Leary.

Happy Backpackers

I went to Rome with a few of my friends. Before we got there, our tour guide, Rhianne, sent us plenty of information regarding how to arrive at the hostel, and what our Itinerary would be like. She also made it a point to meet up with people the night before if their flight got in early so students would have something to do. Having a tour guide that lived in the city was amazing. It made me not have to stress about getting lost, and provided many opportunities to eat at the best restaurants, and, most importantly, the best Gelato places. By the end of the tour, I was good friends with each of the 14 members of the tour group, including our tour guide. I definitely recommend taking a tour through WSA because the guides make you feel like they actually care about each person on the trip. I knew that I could just relax, and enjoy my trip.
